Dubbo staff support their workmate and the community

30 August 2010

The 3rd of September will see all male staff at Orana Mutual's Dubbo branch participate in a 'head shave' to help raise funds for their Community Partnership Account program.

Loans Officer, Lisa McKittrick, is currently being treated for Cancer and is using the Wig Library as she continues her treatment. According to Orana Mutual's Warren Williams, the head shave is to help raise money and create community awareness about the Community Partnership Account program and provide a little extra support for the Wig Library.

"The head shave gives people an opportunity to donate as they walk past," he said, "and because Lisa is sick and going through treatment and losing her hair we're going to do a bit of extra fundraising and creating a bit more awareness for the wig library, which she is currently using," he said.

The library is completely self funded and relies on donations to keep afloat. It was first established in 2005 by local volunteers and is based at The Dubbo Base Hospital Oncology Unit.

The Orana Mutual Community Partnership Account program is designed to give back to the local community. Members of the branch with a Community Partnership Account are encouraged to nominate a community group they support, like the Wig Library, Can Assist, The Royal Flying Doctors, the VRA and many others. CMG then donates 1 % of the member's average account balance to their nominated group.
