New England Credit Union (NECU) is one of the leading providers of financial services in the New England and North West areas of New South Wales. It is the largest inland regional community Credit Union in Australia with a member base of approximately 51,000 members and an asset base in excess of $500 million.

NECU’s organisational purpose is to provide our members with Trusted Community Banking. We employ local people who are empowered to make local decisions, we offer high quality customer service, treat people as individuals and are proud of our involvement in our local communities.

Membership of NECU has many benefits, one of which is an entitlement as a shareholder to an equal say in the running of the Credit Union. Members of NECU have the democratic right to vote at Annual General Meetings and participate in the election of the Board of Directors.

History
For over 35 years, NECU has paid attention to members needs, and has a proud history of delivering outstanding results. It was first established as the University of New England Staff Credit Union on 15 January 1970.

Since its beginnings in 1970, NECU has expanded through a series of new branch openings and mergers with other Credit Unions in Northern NSW. Today NECU employs about 165 people from the New England and North West regions.

Locations
There are now 18 branches and 2 agencies of NECU located in an area that stretches from Quirindi in the South to Tenterfield in the North and from Walcha in the East to Mungindi in the West. Access to NECU is also available through the national network of ATM’s and EFTPOS terminals, through Swift Access telephone banking and Web Access internet banking.

Our local Telephone Service Centre, equipped with state of the art technology, is available from 8.00am until 6.00pm Monday to Friday and from 8.30am until 12 noon on Saturdays. The friendly staff in the call centre can attend to all account enquiries and funds transfers, and are also able to take loan applications and enquiries.

Cities and towns where NECU provides face to face banking services include Armidale, Ashford, Barraba, Bingara, Bundarra, Glen Innes, Guyra, Inverell, Manilla, Moree, Mungindi, Nundle, Quirindi, Tamworth, Tenterfield, University of New England, Uralla, Walcha, Warialda, and Werris Creek.
